General Expectations

• Collaborating with H4C team, contributing to the entire project lifecycle through tasks such as research, coding, transcription, etc. 
• Participating and assisting in team meetings, project meetings and meetings with external stakeholders 
• Content Writing and Proposal Writing

Front Desk and Event Management

• Support in the organization and running of events and activities hosted at the Home for Cooperation 
• Support in the updating and management of the E-Store 

Support H4C Communications 

• Assist in the execution of communication strategy of H4C.
• Create and edit communications copy (e.g. press releases, publications, social media posts).
• Help to maintain web content and implementation of social media strategies.
• Track projects and media exposure as well as update databases and media lists.
• Maintain calendars, schedules, and appointments.
• Help in researching, writing, and editing content for distribution including photos and videos.
• Prepare communication plans per activity.
• Assist in translation of the communication materials as needed.
• Collect data, prepare reports/presentations, and evaluate the status of the H4C’s public image and make recommendations for expanding or improving the public image.

• Young people (18-30 years old) 
• Strong written and spoken English (Knowledge of Greek and/or Turkish will be considered an advantage)
• Flexibility and capability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work as part of a team.
• Interest/background in communication science, political science, political communication, peace and conflict studies, and cultural studies or related fields.
• Motivation and creative instinct to create content from scratch.
• Skills in marketing communications, web content management, social media marketing or public relations is a plus.
• Strong editing and researching skills.
• Strong computer skills, especially a very good command of MS Office.

Pocket money will be given monthly (5€ per day). A food allowance of 150€ will be provided per month per volunteer to cover food expenses, both during and outside of working hours.

The volunteers will have the chance to live in a furnished rented flat, in the Republic of Cyprus, shared with other volunteers if they choose to. The volunteers will have their own bedroom and shared bathroom between 2 people, and a shared kitchen.

The accommodation is located centrally in the old city of Nicosia, therefore accessing the workplace, and getting around the old city is quite convenient even on foot. Volunteers will also have the option of using a bike from the H4C free of charge for their convenience.

City buses, Bolt (Uber-like app) and taxis are other ways of transportation available.

The volunteers starting in September have the chance to join Turkish or Greek language classes offered at the Home for Cooperation. The classes are in person, and organized weekly for 1.5 hours per session.

The volunteers starting in February, have the chance to learn Greek language through OLS. If they are interested in learning Turkish, an arrangement can be made through the language support grant, as it is not available on the OLS.

The volunteers will be at the Home for Cooperation (H4C) from 10 am to 5 pm during weekdays (Monday-Friday), but they can also participate in afternoon or weekend activities and compensate these free days later.

The volunteer will have weekend days off and public holidays that are set by the organization.

Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus is rich in history and culture, combining its historic past with the amenities of a modern city.
The heart of the city, within the 16th century Venetian Walls, has a number of interesting museums and art galleries, Byzantine churches and a number of medieval and neo-classical buildings while the narrow streets retain the romantic atmosphere of the past.
Nicosia remains as the only divided capital in Europe, with 3 crossing points which allow interaction across the divide. H4C is located in one of these crossings. This makes Nicosia the most intercultural city in Cyprus, with interaction across the divide being part of the daily life of its inhabitants.
