Jeugdwerk in Nabeul (Tunesië)

You will create a tailored personal schedule with the organisation, including for example:

• Creating photos, videos, reels and flyers for the social media
• Teaching (assistant) English language classes
• Assisting one of the ongoing workshops such as robotics, athletics, painting, karate
• Organising and teaching your own workshops in your own domain
• Assisting in administrative tasks surrounding the recruitment and preparation of Tunisian volunteers who want to participate in international projects
• Open for your suggestions

• Good at filming, editing and graphic design OR willing to learn
• Likes to work with children and/or young adults
• Proactive
• Speaking French is not a must, but will be helpful

You will share an appartment with 1-3 other volunteers. You’ll get a food allowance to do your own shopping and cook or eat outside. Fruit lovers will be spoiled by the fresh and cheap markets!
In Maamoura the options to eat outside are limited (mostly snack such as sandwiches, pizza) but within less than 30 minutes you can be in the city of Nabeul where options are more varied and you can try local traditional food. Try to get yourself invited to a wedding reception to eat the local wedding couscous!

Most of the work will be at walking distance, collective taxis are easy and cheap.

Language support will be arranged according to your interest (classic Arabic or local dialect, intensity and level can be adapted)

The normal ESC criteria apply (+/- 30 hours a week) but keep in mind that depending on the season, in some less busy periods you may have to take on some administrative tasks or a personal project to meet these hours. If there are activities on the weekend they will be compensate with free days the next week.

Maamoura is a small coastal town close to the city of Nabeul. The area is famous for it’s long sandy beaches (although more savage beaches can also be found. In summer it explodes with tourists (mostly Tunisian or French with Tunisian roots), in winter it is a calm family town. By taxi you can easily and quickly reach touristic destinations such as Hamamet (famous for it’s beach and it’s old medina (city centre) and Nabeul (city of crafts and tradition but also bars and beach clubs).
The capital of Tunis is 1 hour away by public transport. There you can visit the old medina, the white-and-blue village of Sidi Boussaid (it looks like Greece!), the old Romanian architecture of Carthage, meet young people in the coffee terraces or bars and enjoy art exhibitions and galleries, dance or music performances in one of the cultural centers, do some shopping or people-watching and enjoy vibrant city life

Tunisians are welcoming and open-minded; you will often hear them speak proudly about how accepting they are of foreign habits and cultures.
