ESC in Siwa (Egypte)

Discover the beautiful Siwa oasis in Egypt! Organize arts and crafts activities for children and women, help in the kitchen of the restaurant, take care of the vegetable garden and tutor Syrian (refugee) children in their homes. The organisation also has opportunities in the city of Alexandria. Watch this video for an impression of volunteers’ experiences in Siwa!

Torraha is a women-led foundation founded in 2013. It focuses on empower women socially and economically, especially those of marginalized backgrounds, while promoting opportunities for youth and children. They do so mainly through creative workshops, trainings and supporting women to turn their traditional crafts into small businesses for more economic and social independence. They use art as a bridge to integrate refugees as well as local youth.

Siwa is a small village in the oasis of the western desert of Egypt. The region is known among tourists for its beautiful scenery full of olive and date trees, ruins of temples and tombes as well as its local crafts. Although there are some hotels, Siwa has kept its traditional bedouin character, so you will really be face-to-face with its rich culture and heritage.

Because Siwa is so secluded the organisation encourages to come as a duo. For this location we make exceptions to send volunteers for shorter projects of two months.
