Mijn verhaal:
I worked at the community center in Carcavelos, which is a town near Lisbon. I worked in different social activities with other young people, sometimes I worked with elderly and babies as well. It was an special experience for me, and it helped me to be more proactive and easygoing, I believe that can help me build my future path.
This project provided a diverse environment. The volunteers came from different countries, we stayed together and learned about different cultures. As an Asian, I learned a lot about Western culture here and tasted some food/snacks I’d never tried before.
On my last day, I was moved to tears by a surprise speech from my mentor and a card from all my colleagues on which they wrote down their thanks and best wishes. It was the best memory for me, and made me feel the warm connection from heart to heart.
Volunteering helped me to be more proactive and easygoing, I believe that can help me build my future path.
