Working in the dog shelter:

• Feeding the dogs
• Watering the dogs
• Cleaning the area
• Daily medication (if necessary)
• Lots of playing with the dog

Working with horses

• Behavior and welfare of horses
• Equine health – The signs of good and ill health
• Mucking out the horses
• Grooming -Taking care of horses
• Nutrition and feeding
• Work horses from the ground, exercise them by hand
• Guide a horse in therapeutic riding

Pythia is wide open to young people from 18 – 30 years old, regardless of background, competences or experience, with an interest in learning by doing and eager to have new experiences. Someone who is curious about meeting new  cultures and living like a local for the volunteering period. We want people who find motivation in tasks and activities given to them regardless of their expertise. We are looking for participants who are willing to develop themselves and move forward with new capabilities.

Together with other volunteers you will stay in an a fully equipped house with two rooms, shared kitchen and bathroom. We provide a light breakfast / dinner and a full lunch meal with traditional Greek food. Dietary restrictions are of no issue.

Pythia offers a monthly travel card to cover the transportation from the accommodation place to the place where the activity will be conducted. This travel card’s route depends from the location of the activity. This card is provided by Pythia for the full time that volunteer will be with us. We don’t cover any expenses to visit another city for personal reasons.

Pythia provides support to all volunteers that want in to enrich their level for Greek language. Our support consists in one hour per week with our Vice President as she is a validate teacher for the Greek Language through the Greek Language Institute. These courses can result to fully prepare a volunteer to participate in the exams for the Greek Language (https://in-el.gr/en/about/). The exams take place also abroad in collaborative institutions and we can assist the volunteers by providing information about those exams. We will not cover the expenses to participate in the exams (as we know so far this is a cost of 70-80€). Two of our volunteers already took the exam and manage to enrich their CV with a A1/A2 level for Greek Language. This is an official certificate. Additionally, our Mentor Yannis Theofylaktidis will assist them every week with a one hour class regarding common words that most of the volunteers like to know and understand.

The volunteer will work 35 hours a week maximum, five days of the week and has 2 days off each week. The volunteer will have 2 days extra holidays per volunteer month, in addition to national holidays. Holidays will be taken in agreement with the host organization.
