• Participate in Grow Clinics by interacting with volunteers, weighing and measuring children, distributing over the counter medicines and tracking distribution

• Manage specific programs by coordinating activities, such as enrolling participants, collecting data from the team, entering data into databases, analyzing the data, and writing reports for funders from the data

• Help with sport programs, by chaperoning children on the train, providing basic coaching in football, volleyball or other sports, supervising children and working on the Barca Foundation funded program to promote health and sport.

• Helping with basic tasks such as unloading deliveries, maintaining the building space, and processing basic documentation such as expenses receipts linked to activities in the program.

Our ideal volunteers have experience in at least one of the following areas: healthcare; working or volunteering with refugee or other underserved populations; coaching and managing sports programs; report-writing, database management. Volunteers should be fluent in basic computer skills such as Microsoft 365. English is required and Arabic, French, Farsi, or Greek are beneficial. We need volunteers who can commit to 10- 12 months. Driving license is a benefit.

CHEERing’s apartment is located in central Athens. It is a 3 bedroom apartment and each of the 3 volunteers who stays there gets their own room. It has a fully functioning kitchen with washing machine, and 1 bathroom with a shower. Heat, A/C, water and internet are all included at the accommodation.We also cover a basic daily allowance for food.

The apartment is a few minutes’ walk from the metro. All transportation needed for the work is covered by CHEERing. We also provide a monthly metro pass.

Volunteers work 35-40 hours per week, 5 days per week, and have 2 consecutive days off. Working hours are NOT 9-5. Greek programs often operate later in the day due to the weather. A schedule is set every week, not to exceed 35-40 hours for each volunteer.

Athens is a busy, historic city with full access to all the amenities of a European capital. CHEERing’s office is in central Athens, a few minutes walk from the metro and with easy access to everything from museums to nightlife. The camps we visit are between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours outside Athens, and we have a van or trains for transportation. Volunteer housing is in Athens in the same building as the office. You can walk, run, or ride to everything in this compact, vibrant city from our apartment building!
