Mijn verhaal:
I helped facilitate activities for refugee and asylum-seeking adults and youth in the Open Cultural Center. I was part of the organizing and carrying out of B1/B2 English classes, photography club, informal education in the kindergarten as well as social media and other general tasks.
The experience further developed my skills and knowledge in various ways, including intercultural interaction, working with a vulnerable group of people, teaching, social media, cooking, balanced team work and time management.
My best memory from my time as a volunteer was a community Iftar hosted by OCC for the first Friday of Ramadam, it was a wonderful event that brought people together.
Even though I faced some hesitance and nerves before the project, I don’t regret anything and it was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had.
